THE INN CH2 - 1.01.01 PUBLIC RELEASE!

This update was released in April 1st for Patrons and Subscribers!

As the original post says:

What's up everyone?

This is the release post for the 1.01.01 version of The Inn - Chapter 2!

Chapter 2 is a standalone game, meaning you don't need to have Chapter 1 installed on your computer to play it.

Actually, you don't even need to have played Chapter 1 to play Chapter 2, as it comes with its own World State configurator where you can set up yout world the way you want.

If you have played chapter 1 to it's completion though, you can load metadata from there and get right into the game with everything already loaded and good to go.

You don't want to configure a World State and haven't played Chapter 1 either? Well, say no more, you can also load a default World State with pretty much all the Chapter 1 content unlocked for Chapter 2!

This release took A LOT of work to get finished, boy... I didn't antecipate that making a standalone game would be so much trouble... It works though, and it works like a glove.

You'll be able to meet Linda again, spend some quality time with her, maybe even get a bit frisky before being called to check on the mansion renovation.

A proper changelog follows:

  • Fixed and improved a bunch of minor stuff from very old code
  • Game Time Class now makes proper use of the datetime library
  • Replays are Python objects now, instead of a .json object
  • New Main Menu background
  • Introduced all new assets for the entirety of Linda's House
  • Data for the songs in the Music Gallery are Python objects now, instead of a .json object

And, without further ado, here are the download links:

Have fun!

PS: There's still some lingering bugs regarding the World State importing that I didn't have the time to fix yet. Most of them are on Android.

I'm seeing a lot of negativity, which isn't cool. I wanted to say thanks so much for the new release!

The groundwork for future content (and keeping the game folders slim!) is super important and understandable that the section is a little shorter. I love the meta, slightly self-deprecating humor in the inner thoughts of MC and it was great to see Linda in person again.

Keep up the fantastic work. You (and your hilarious storywriting) are very appreciated!

Glad you're enjoying the game!

Noice 👌

OK nvm not nice it's like 10 minutes of content. Is that the update for this month or will there be more soon?

I explained a couple of times during devlogs why this update didn't have enough content.

Hopefully the next update will have enough to make you happy.

if a person is interested in reading devlogs, they'd be a patreon. just saying, its not in the nature of an itch.io user.
i actually find them extremely annoying, you get an email from itch saying "X game has an update",. then you get to the site and theres no game update, just a wall of text. its frustrating as hell. i've unfollowed a few creators for having them far too frequently

Ok.

you obviously have problems with reading, so i'm not sure why you'd be into visual novels, or are you just here for the pictures?its not about having updates, its about them being pushed down the wrong channel of the wrong venue.
butt of course you cheapskates are probably drooling at the thought of getting paid content for free.

No I get it and I read them. But I thought when u said it will have a little content that it didn't mean basically only text. Nonetheless like Corin said the writing is still good, love the humor and I guess now that u "upgraded" the coding the game will only get better. So this wasn't supossed to be hate or anything I was just a bit sad/disappointed.
